Short biography

Ramon Vega was born in Ejido de Hornos, Municipality of Cajeme, Sonora, México, from M. Fernando Vega Verdugo and Mrs. Delfina Cuamea de Vega whose family includes thirteen members.

Ramon Vega was early in age interested in music, but completed studies to become a mathematic teacher and never worked in education colleges.

He created his first band with his brother Chuy in 1980. They recorded two records for Fema Records in Phoenix, Arizona, under the name « Los Naranjeros Hermanos Vega ». When Chuy Vega left the band to join with Los Cadetes de Linares, his brother Sergio who had settled in Arizona with the ambition of becoming a baseball player replaced him.

Ramon Vega and Sergio Vega then recorded four albums for Joey Records in Houston under the name « Los Vega de Sonora ». In 1994, Sergio Vega decided to run his own band, « Los Rayos del Norte », and his brothers Cornelio and Freddy replaced him into the « Grupo Los Hnos. Vega » while simultaneously running Freddy's « Los Sherifes de Sonora » then « Los Colores », and Cornelio's « Los Arrieros ». Ramon Vega kept performing sometimes with other musicians as « Ramon Vega y su grupo Hnos. Vega » and run his own recording label « HorSon de Mexico ».

When he died in a car crash, on 2004, october 17th, while driving to an event in Baserac, Sonora, Ramon Vega was reconignized one of the best accordion players in Regional Mexican Music who shared the stage with ascending stars such as Jenny Rivera.
